Health care matters are placed in a prominent position on Hillary’s agenda as she understands the importance of this issue to all citizens.  Health services constitute a subject that reaches everyone at some time or stage in life.  Although health care in the United States is in general considered to be of a high standard in comparison to many other countries, the numbers of people who unfortunately have no health coverage or incomplete insurance is increasing. Hillary’s aim within the area of health is to make good health care more affordable and accessible for all Americans.

American Health Choices Plan – Health Care for All

Hillary’s American Health Choices Plan is intended to ensure health coverage for every American, providing better quality at a reduced cost.  This is good news for the number of 46 million people who are reportedly without health coverage.  The American Health Choices Plan presents new options within the health care system for all Americans.  The basic idea behind the Plan appears to be that among other alternatives, there will be the option of a public health care system that is similar to the coverage offered by Medicare. This means that those with health insurance may choose a different health care option or keep to their present plan.  For those people without coverage, they would be able to select from different possibilities, while taking advantage of benefits such as a tax relief or credit.

HIV / AIDS

Hillary’s views regarding HIV and AIDS suggest that a more aggressive approach is required.   Hillary has initiated the Early Treatment for HIV Act which would enable certain low salaried people who are living with HIV to receive Medicaid coverage.  Hillary believes that extending early treatment to such members of the population would help to save lives or at least in some circumstances to extend lives.

Vaccines

The introduction of the Influenza Vaccine Security Act was intended to deal with elements that have unfortunately caused shortages in the flu vaccine since the year 2000.  This Act aims to make progress in the supply and allocation of vaccines.

Medical Research and Technology

Hillary believes in the support and encouragement of research in the field of medicine in the hope of finding the path to more cures and effective treatments to diseases. Hillary understands that medicine and health care need to move and progress with the times and keep up with modern technology.

Children’s Health

Hillary is dedicated to the issue of providing and promoting good health care to all American children.  Children can not take care of themselves and, as adults, we are responsible for their welfare.

Obesity

Overweight and obesity has become an increasing occurrence in the U.S.  Hillary believes that it is important to look into causes and to promote and stress healthier behavior and way of life.

Hillary Clinton believes strongly in the improvement of the health care system in the United States to make all possible efforts to ensure that American citizens receive the care they deserve.  This is an important issue for Hillary Clinton in her presidential campaign for 2008.
